About UnGig
What is UnGig?
UnGig is a community platform helping gig economy workers—Uber and Lyft drivers, DoorDash and Instacart delivery workers, TaskRabbit taskers, and anyone stuck in the platform economy—transition to stable employment with benefits, security, and a future.
We're not anti-gig work. We know these platforms help people survive and pay bills when they need it. But they shouldn't be forever. You deserve more than 80-hour weeks, algorithmic uncertainty, and no path forward.
UnGig helps you undo the gig grind and build the career you deserve.
The Problem We're Solving
The Gig Economy Trap
If you're working gig apps right now, you know the reality:
- You work 70-80 hours a week just to pay bills and service debt
- You have no time to search for better jobs because you're always working
- You're exhausted but one slow week means you can't make rent
- Your skills are wasting away while you drive in circles
- There's no path forward - just tomorrow's algorithm and next week's rent
The Talent Being Wasted
Through this platform, we're connecting with:
- Software engineers from Uzbekistan and India driving Uber
- Accountants and business owners from Russia and Ukraine delivering food
- Teachers and healthcare workers from across Latin America juggling three gig apps
- Skilled tradespeople who started driving "temporarily" three years ago
This talent shouldn't be trapped. These careers shouldn't be abandoned. These dreams shouldn't die in a rideshare app.

Our Principles
1. No Judgment
We're not here to shame anyone for gig work. We know you're doing what you need to survive. This is a safe space.
2. Practical Help Over Theory
We focus on actionable advice, real job opportunities, and concrete strategies - not vague inspiration or empty promises.
3. Free and Open
Core community resources are free. We're not here to profit from your struggle. (Premium services may be added later to sustain the platform, but core help stays free.)
4. Peer-to-Peer Support
The best advice comes from people who've walked your path. We facilitate connections between those escaping and those who've escaped.
5. Multilingual and Multicultural
Language barriers shouldn't stop you from getting help. We provide content and support in multiple languages.
6. Privacy and Safety
Your transition is confidential. We protect your information. Employers don't contact your current platforms. Your safety matters.
About the Founder
Maxim Alex
I've been building websites and e-commerce platforms for 20 years, specializing in PHP, JavaScript, ProcessWire, Shopify, and WooCommerce. I've worked with major healthcare systems, logistics companies, and international media.
When I became a US citizen, I wanted to give back to immigrant communities. I spent time in gig work to understand the challenges from the inside - and I was shocked by what I saw. Talented, educated, skilled people trapped in a cycle with no way out.
UnGig is my way to help.
I'm using my two decades of tech experience and professional connections to create real pathways out of gig work. I know the IT industry, I understand hiring, and I can open doors that might be closed to you right now.
My portfolios:
This isn't a side project or an experiment. This is personal. I've seen the trap, I understand the struggle, and I'm committed to helping people escape it.
